Message About Fall Semester

Parents & Students ~

While our local area is currently faring better than other parts of Illinois, BACHS has had to look realistically at what the risk factors are regarding the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families.

As “singers,” we tend to fall into a higher risk group that other musical activities (i.e. band, string instruments, orchestra) due to inhaling and exhaling of air (aerosol particles).  With that being said, the Board of Directors and I have agreed to suspend the fall semester for all  “in-person” choral activity.

Additionally, I have been in touch with the American Choral Directors Association forum which is very supportive of cancellation of all choral activities for the fall. Also, I received notification that the Millikin University Vocal Festival, where several of our students have attended over past years, has been canceled as well.  This has given us more guidance on protocols and support on our decision of suspending the semester.

With that being said, we are exploring some form of “online” teaching / meeting for our older groups (Cantate and Concert choirs).  We will try and include our Treble students if feasible.

Please advise by responding to me individually by August 10 if you have some interest in participating in online sessions.
